2.1 [Work in Progress] Thesis 1: Major Project / Thesis Materials

This week I reviewed the persona cards and related information created in the Visual Communication Lab class to map the user journey. I chose Walking Lover because he has the most motivation to use the app and can use the app in multiple scenarios. In addition, I hand-drawn the user journey map with pen and paper based on the instructions of the assignment and the template and keywords given in the module. I prefer drawing with pen and paper to sketching on the computer because it can make me more immersed in thinking.


I came up with 23 possible names for my thesis brand based on the naming methods in the module, and I think the best names among them are Walkree and Citywalk SF because they briefly and intuitively express the brand's mission. Then I designed the brand’s identity symbol driven by keywords and semiotic meanings. In tight sketches, I used visual/graphic elements of pedestrians, sidewalks, feet, footprints, road signs, and bridge support structures to design to reflect the brand's mission.


I had not heard of a user journey map before and it was interesting to learn how to make one. It makes me think more about how, when, and where the product is used, and how users live, think, and feel.
