This week I revised the top-level architecture based on the feedback, created task flows, and designed a series of posters for the environmental deliverables. First, I modified the top-level architecture into a vertical version to improve legibility and make the visual hierarchy clearer, then I refined the content based on the feedback from the instructor and peers. Second, I selected and demonstrated two important functions of the app, namely navigation and reporting functions. The navigation function combines the San Francisco high-injury map to plan routes for pedestrians, notify dangerous areas, and inform pedestrians of matters needing attention along the way to provide warnings to the audience. The reporting function is inspired by the reporting function of Google Maps. By using it pedestrians can report factors they consider unsafe to the app, and the system will review, verify, and notify pedestrians of the latest information.
Finally, I did some research on Chinatown, Mission District, and Market Street based on the Midpoint Committee's prompts. Market Street is the most typical area among them, so I planned to design the environmental deliverables for this street, starting with a series of posters. I started by listing some possible titles and taglines to express consideration for car needs, drivers, and people who are unsafe for pedestrians and trying to make the streets safe for both pedestrians and cars. Finally, I found some photos of pedestrians on the street and made a series of posters to test the visual effect of the visual system.
